Students Student Ticket Policies
Students at Mason Gross School of the Arts are encouraged to attend events sponsored by the school. There are discounted student ticket prices for all events that have a cost. Free events are numerous and do not require tickets. There are no student discounts for events costing $5 or less.
MGPAC STUDENT RUSH /COMPLIMENTARY TICKET PROTOCOL
RUSH TICKETS (Theater & Music Only)
Rush tickets are preprinted free tickets for Rutgers students with a valid RU ID as authorized by the sponsoring department that are distributed from a ½ hour prior to the scheduled performance time. Rush tickets are not complimentary tickets. They must be claimed using the following process:
Step One: Come in person to the ticket office of the venue in which the performance is occurring no earlier than a ½ hour prior to the scheduled performance time.
Step Two: Show your RU ID. Allow time for processing.
Step Three: Take your ticket with you.
- Students eligible for Rush tickets to theater events must appear on the departmental list provided by the Theater Department. All Rutgers students can Rush music events. There is no Rush for Dance.
- Student Rush tickets are never guaranteed and are distributed on an as available basis. The Ticket Office reserves the right to cease Rush ticket distribution at any time for any reason.
- The Ticket Office will not process Rush tickets during daytime ticket office hours.
- The option of choosing specific seating is not available.
- Rush tickets are not transferable, not exchangeable and not combinable. (See page two for definitions.)
- The person requesting the Rush ticket must be present at the time of the transaction.
- Rush tickets are not available for Christmas in Carol and Song, Mason Gross Presents… or Rutgers in New York events. Other exclusions may apply.
COMPLIMENTARY TICKETS (All departments as per departmental policy)
Complimentary tickets are free tickets for authorized students within the department sponsoring the event issued during daytime ticket office hours only. The sponsoring department of the event authorizes the amount of comp tickets anyone on their list is allowed for any given event. They must be claimed using the following process:
Step One: Obtain a Complimentary Ticket Request Form from the Ticket Office or your departmental office.
Step Two: Complete it, sign it and submit it to the Ticket Office in person during daytime Ticket Office hours only. Don’t forget your RU ID! Allow time for processing.
Step Three: Take the tickets with you or leave them in Will Call for pick up on the night of the performance.
- All requesters of comps must appear on the departmental list provided.
- Complimentary tickets are never guaranteed and are distributed on an as available basis. The ticket office reserves the right to deny the request.
- The Ticket Office will not process complimentary tickets during performance hours.
- Any additional Complimentary tickets desired beyond the standard policy must be authorized via email to the Ticket Office Managers by the sponsoring department or conductor of the event.
- The person requesting the comp must be present at the time of the transaction.
- Additional tickets may be purchased at the normal published ticket price. Limit one (1) ticket at the student rate.
- Complimentary tickets are not available for Christmas in Carol and Song, Mason Gross Presents… or Rutgers in New York events. Other exclusions may apply.
MASON GROSS STUDENT RUSH AND
COMPLIMENTARY TICKET POLICY

sponsoring the event. Information subject to change.
Not Transferable – The person claiming the ticket must be present
at the time of the transaction.
Not Exchangeable - Tickets cannot be exchanged into another performance.
Not Combinable – Cannot combine tickets into one performance.
DANCE
(excluding Mason Gross Presents and Rutgers In New York)
Rush Tickets:
Complimentary Tickets: Not Transferable
- Choreographers of event: Per department list.
- Performers in event: No Comps.
- Dance Majors: No Comps.
MUSIC
(excluding Christmas in Carol & Song, Mason Gross Presents
and Rutgers In New York)
Rush Tickets: Not Transferable, Not Exchangeable and Not Combinable
- Student Rush: 1 per performance w/ Rutgers ID. (All Rutgers students.)
Complimentary Tickets: Not Transferable and Not Combinable.
- Musicians in event: 2 per event.
- Soloist in event: 10 per event.
- Opera Lead Singers: 2 per performance.
- Opera Chorus/Orchestra: 2 per event.
THEATER
(excluding Mason Gross Presents and Rutgers In New York)
Rush Tickets: Not Transferable, Not Exchangeable and Not Combinable
- Student Rush: Theater MFA, BFA and BA on declared majors list - 1 per performance w/ Rutgers ID. (Excluding students performing in and/or backstage running the event.)
- Theater TA’s: TA’s only may claim 1 Rush ticket in conjunction with their TA Complimentary ticket for the same performance. All other Rush tickets must be claimed at the other performances.
Complimentary Tickets: Not Transferable and Not Combinable
- Designers, Director, Actors, Stage Manager, Asst. Stage Manager, Playwright of event: 1 per event for a guest. (Excluding Production Assistants, Assistant Directors, and Assistant Designers.)
- Director, Designers and Playwright of event: 1 per performance for themselves to view their work.
- TA’s: 1 per event for themselves.
VISUAL ARTS
No tickets are required for gallery exhibitions.
